I suspect the builder is PC&F, built earlier than 1958, and that they were rebuilt from RS ice reefers (removal of ice bunkers, replacement of the two roof panels at each end), possibly ex-MNX or FGE cars.

Jim, if it is of any help the Ptd 2-74 stencil refers to 'Midwest Railcar'. It appears they painted over the existing ACI label.

Thanks Steven, Midwest became Portec circa 1975-76.
A really odd thing about the cars, which are sub-Plate B with bar+3/3 ends typical of ice reefers, is their exceptionally deep cross bearers. These suggest a sliding center sill, but the cars look like they just have extended draft arms. None of the FGE, BRE/MNX or WFE ice reefers the DANX cars may have come from had cushioning or extended draft arms, so either this was part of the rebuild to beef up the underframe, or they came from some other source.
